7 Day Lemosho Route Kilimanjaro Climb
Day by Day Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival – Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) to Hotel
Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) or Arusha Airport, you will be warmly welcomed and transferred to your hotel in Arusha.
In the evening, meet your certified mountain guide for a detailed briefing, equipment check, and Q&A session to prepare for your Kilimanjaro adventure.

Day 2: Londorosi Gate (2,100m) → Mti Mkubwa Camp (2,750m)
After breakfast, transfer to Londorosi Gate for registration before driving to the Lemosho trailhead. Your trek begins through lush rainforest rich in wildlife and bird species.
Keep an eye out for blue monkeys and colobus monkeys as you hike to Mti Mkubwa Camp.

Day 3: Mti Mkubwa → Shira I & Shira II Camps (3,850m)
Trek out of the forest into the heather and moorland zone, enjoying expansive views as you cross the Shira Plateau.
Stop at Shira I Camp for lunch before continuing to Shira II Camp, with stunning views of Kibo Peak.

Time: 8–10 hours

Accommodation: Shira II Camp
Day 4: Shira II → Lava Tower (4,600m) → Barranco Camp (3,950m)
This is a critical acclimatization day. Trek to Lava Tower (4,600m) for lunch before descending to Barranco Camp.
This “climb high, sleep low” strategy significantly improves altitude adaptation and increases summit success chances.

Time: 6–7 hours

Day 5: Barranco Camp → Karanga Camp (3,995m)
Climb the famous Barranco Wall, one of the most exciting sections of the Lemosho Route. Though steep, it is non-technical and safe.
Descend into Karanga Valley before ascending to Karanga Camp.

Distance: 6 km
Time: 3–4 hours

Accommodation: Karanga Camp
Day 6: Karanga Camp → Barafu Camp (4,673m)
A steady ascent leads you to Barafu Camp, your summit base camp.
After lunch, rest, hydrate, and prepare your summit gear before sleeping early for the midnight summit push.

Distance: 4 km
Time: 3–4 hours
Elevation: 4,673m
Accommodation: Barafu Camp
Day 7: Summit to Uhuru Peak (5,895m) → Descend to Mweka Camp (3,100m)
Your summit attempt begins around midnight. Trek slowly toward Stella Point, then continue to Uhuru Peak (5,895m) — the highest point in Africa.
Witness a breathtaking sunrise above the clouds before descending to Barafu Camp and continuing down to Mweka Camp.
Habitat: Arctic (Summit) → Moorland
Distance: 5 km up / 12 km down
Time: 7–8 hours ascent / 4–6 hours descent
Accommodation: Mweka Camp
Day 8: Mweka Camp → Mweka Gate (1,650m)
After breakfast, descend through lush rainforest to Mweka Gate.
Receive your official Kilimanjaro summit certificate:
🟡 Gold Certificate – Uhuru Peak
🟢 Green Certificate – Stella/Gilman’s Point
Transfer back to your hotel for a hot shower and well-earned rest.

Day 9: Departure – Transfer to Airport
After breakfast, transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) or Arusha Airport for your onward journey.
